Seating can be arranged in rows to create the perfect viewing experience. We normally install rows at 30cm height intervals so those in the back can easily see over the heads of those in the front. Generally, rows should be spaced around 80cm apart and we generally allow 80cm for circulation space down the sides of the home theatre. We have dedicated page on Home Cinema Seating as well as some manufacturer pages, for example Cineak.
So what home cinema speaker setup is right for me?
If the cinema room has windows, automated blinds will reduce glare when you’re watching films, and will help with acoustics too, especially if matched with thick, lined curtains. Seats will, undoubtedly, be comfortably upholstered, too – another good way to help with acoustics. A soundbar or stereo speakers isn't home cinema, whatever 'virtual surround' claims are made by manufacturers.
What does every home theater need?
We have a huge number of options for the surround channels, which is the part of the sound system where all the speakers are apart from the front ones, including ceiling speakers and on-wall and in-wall speakers. We tend to partner the Leon soundbars with ceiling speakers and the Artcoustic speakers with on-wall surrounds. The Artcoustic speaker range is very modular, so we can install smaller speakers in less important audio areas like the surrounds rather than the bigger front speakers. Seating is critical in a home cinema room as clients need to be comfortable for extended periods of time. Each client is different but we tend to find clients with younger families prefer less formal seating, which can include options such as day beds and chaise longues. Clients with older families, or those who intend to use the space to entertain, might prefer more formal seating – perhaps including double sofas to snuggle with a loved one.
Sound Design
Both sites have a huge range of paint colours available and suggest compatible colours that can be used when choosing matching carpets, seating, and soft furnishings. We often keep the room colours fairly muted and then pick an accent colour for bean bags and cushions. An office space in the Gatehouse is now a soothing spa-inspired lounge designed by Margaret Lalikian. The designer referenced the house’s original name, El Robles—Spanish for oak tree—with a tree-filled landscape mural by Arpy Dabbaghian.
There’s a lot that goes into designing such a space but a common mistake that many make is to overcomplicate things. An explosion on screen and the room fills with thunderous sound. Whether it's a Blu-ray player, gaming console, streaming device, or media server, the content you choose significantly impacts your viewing experience. High-definition, 4K, and Dolby Atmos content sources ensure that the stunning visuals and captivating sound are faithfully represented. As a home cinema installer based in Boca Raton, we think these six elements are essential. Before the Los Angeles home theater builder makes your dream real, we talk with you, take measurements, make recommendations, offer solutions, and then start working on the project.
How big of a projector screen should I get?
In the case of the seating or some of the furniture, however, something brighter and more cheerful can be a lovely choice. A mix of yellow and brown tones suits this magnificent design by Mary DeWalt Design Group perfectly. The walls feature reclaimed wood and a carpeted floor for warmth and comfort. It has a bar with seating just behind the sofa for those who prefer a more casual and relaxed experience.

In order to determine the biggest size projector screen you should get you need to decide on a few other factors first. The cost of a home cinema room really depends on quite how far you want to go. If you've only got £2,000 to £3,000 to spend, you can create a basic room with a good TV, A/V receiver, speakers and control. When planning a cinema room, first consider how many people will use the space at a time – will it just be your family, or will you be inviting guests to enjoy the latest blockbusters with you?

Tiles and hardwood flooring, although very desirable in many rooms, are not ideal in a home cinema room. Concrete or bare brick walls, such as those in a contemporary extension, for example, are also to be avoided in a cinema room setting. We often include acoustic paneling in some of our projects to ensure the sound quality is as perfect as possible. We can help you envision a home theater system with the space you already have. When designing such a space, there are many styles to explore and variables to consider.
The ultimate goal is to provide a solution that would involve a comfortable seating arrangement at the proper viewing distance and the best sound possible. We achieve the best results by focusing on anything from the size and shape of the room to the wall paneling and the audio equipment without disregarding the importance of the home theater décor. When designing the lighting for your media room, you want to make sure the light doesn’t directly hit the projector screen.
Some beautifully soft and glamorous cushions and throws also add that touch of luxe, too! The seating must be super-comfortable and depends on the size of the room itself and the number of viewers it will need to accommodate. Sometimes we source cinema-style extra features for home cinema furniture and seating, such as fold-out console tables, cup holders, individual seat lighting, and connections for headphones or charging points. A 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 home theater system takes your audio experience to new heights. This Dolby Atmos setup adds overhead speakers to your media room system giving you the perception of height to your sound.
5.1 surround sound is considered the minimum number of speakers needed for true surround sound and is adequate for most home theater setups. A short throw projector needs less room than a regular throw projector. These projectors typically funcion between 3 to 8 feet away from the projector screen, making them ideal for home theater rooms with less depth. A multi-purpose cinema room with sofa seating, dimmable lights, projector, screen and surround sound will start at around £10,000. ‘At the very minimum you’ll want to include a high-quality screen, speakers, an AV receiver, mood lighting, a dedicated control system, and comfortable seating,’ says Robin Bailey, from GadgetMyPad.
It decodes the latest audio formats, supports multiple input options, and optimizes audio distribution, guaranteeing that your theater delivers top-notch performance across all connected components. Conceptual designs are created exploring seating layout, sightline views, viewing angles and dimensional room analysis for acoustic optimization. You review these plans, followed by an in-depth discussion with us. Our award-winning team of theater designers, technicians, and skilled production professionals combine to provide complete theater design, installation, and project support from concept to completion. Therefore, if you plan to watch a lot of both movies and television shows in your theatre, go for a projector system with a decent screen on a black background. That way you can happily change the aspect on the projector settings and not be annoyed by the visible bars on a TV screen.
Screening room technology has never been more advanced and accessible to public and private institutions. The technology of commercial cinema projection is currently at a historic crossroads. Digital Cinema or D Cinema has replaced film projection technology for video media presentation. Theaters worldwide are aggressively switching over to digital media as film becomes history. “D Cinema” is specifically designed to download studio-produced content (movies) through a sophisticated processor that delivers first-run presentations while protecting (via encryption) the premier content’s security.. Today, it is now possible to get the same performance level from a private home theater as public cinemas.
